Exhausted but happy, the participants returned home after the winter camp. It was a weekend with a full focus on further education and cooperation for the HiCoders Mentors.

We met in snowy Teufen in Appenzell for the winter camp. From 7 to 9 January, the Alpstein group accommodation was home and place of work for the 12 HiCoders mentors and the four camp leaders. On Friday, the main focus was on talking about experiences and difficulties in mentoring. In working groups and in a workshop, we shared what we had experienced and learned.

Saturday brought a day full of programme, in the morning with seminars by Ramazan Özgü on behaviour in Switzerland and Hamide Bay on motivation and communication within HiCoders, in the afternoon with training and workshop by Fatos Karakaya on time management and processes.

Praise for the speakers

It was back home on Sunday after cleaning the accommodation and with many new thought-provoking ideas for the HiCoders mentors. They especially liked the different presentations, that it was not only about IT topics and that everyone worked well together. There was some criticism about the food: it was too much. In general, they all enjoyed it and would like to attend the next mentor camp again.
